Yesterday I was cleaning the house and vacuuming in the other room when I realized that Carter had been quiet for quite some time.... not normal. I stopped vacuuming and went to find him.... He was sitting on the floor in the kitchen by the corner cabinet (where his snacks are kept), had opened the door (which has a child lock on it), and had twisted off the cap to the popcorn kernels. There were kernels all over the floor and he was taking more out of the jar and putting them into the top of the air popper.
Me (in an angry exasperated tone): "Carter what are you doing!?!?!"
Carter (in an innocent what's your deal mom tone): "I'm making popcorn".
How can you get upset at that? It wasn't until a little later (after we cleaned up the mess together) that I realized that he put a sentence together that was very clear to understand. I can normally understand what he is saying and we can communicate but until now it's been one or two words. Now he's putting words together... Here are a few of his other quotes he says very clearly:
"Jesus loves you very much"
"No mommy play here!" or "No daddy play here!" - meaning he doesn't want us to touch whatever it is that he's playing with. Not exactly correct grammar but he's putting words together.
He also knows all of his letters and sings most of the alphabet song without help. I'm amazed at how quickly he's developing and turning into a little boy!
Happy Birthday Miss Magoo!
